Battle royale in New Delhi: Sheila vs Vijender Gupta vs Kejriwal


New Delhi: The stage is set for a live wire contest between Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, BJP heavyweight Vijender Gupta and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi assembly constituency.

Dikshit represents the constituency in the outgoing assembly. Although the Congress is yet to announce that Dikshit will contest from New Delhi, it is highly unlikely that she would change her constituency, especially after Kejriwal’s announcement that he will fight from whichever seat Dikhsit contests from.

Rs 5,000 cost imposed on Sheila Dikshit for non-appearance


A cost of Rs 5,000 was on Monday imposed by a court in New Delhi on Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit for her non-appearance in a defamation case lodged by her against BJP leader Vijender Gupta.

The court also directed her to be present before it on January 27 without “any excuse”.

Lokayukta Gives Clean Chit to Former Delhi BJP Chief


Delhi Lokayukta Manmohan Sarin has exonerated former Delhi BJP President Vijender Gupta of charges of irregularities in purchase of uniform for MCD employees and students.

Dismissing the complaint filed by former Delhi Mayor and senior Congress leader Farhad Suri against Gupta, who was the Chairman of Standing Committee of unified Municipal Corporation of Delhi, the Lokayukta observed “nothing has come on the record to show that Vijender Gupta has used or misused or abused his position for personal gains.”
